The rules are the rules are the rule. Excerpts from BEST DC Blog’s much-published Rules, Bylaws, & Regulations::::::

  1. Being named, or even nominated to be, the BEST DC Blog is an honour. This is not a forum to attack each other. This is a plaform for innocent gossips that will help us determine who is the best of the best in the DC blogosphere!You cannot remove a blog from a contest once the contest is already is already in progress and it would disturb the delicate process if we pulled the blog. It wouldn’t be fair to the other contenders would it. You can only remove a blog through the honourable elimination processes descibed in detail in the paragraphs which follow.This is a democratic process, and we must work to keep it that way. Good luck in the competition. If you don’t want to win, consider launching a campaign for another contender.
  2. You can only nominate once under one name. Log in as another user and nominate it again if you want to. We don’t check IP addresses!
  3. Second nominations for eliminatino do not count because if the second nomination by the same commenter.
  4. There is a provision for bringing back a previously eliminated blog. In order to bring back a previously eliminated blog, eight (8) commenters with different names must each nominate that blog to be brought back. They must also nominate a blog to take its place as an eliminated blog.
  5. In addition to nominating yourself back into the contest, the 8 comments you receive in your support but simultaneously nominate someone else for elimination.
  6. If a member of the electorate wishes to nominate more than one blog for elimination at the same time, they must do so in two (2)different comments using two (2) different commenter names.
  7. Each week, the Editor-in-Chief and Moderator determine the number of blogs that will make it to the finals. This week, we decided that eight (8) blogs will make it to the finals. Each week we also decide how many nominations for elimination are needed in each elimination round. We decided on Saturday night that this week each blog that receives five (5) nominations will get cut. Except during the final elimination round before voting. Each blog’s nomination count is reset to zero for this round and the first to get five (5) nominations after the reset is then cut.
  8. You CAN nominate ANY blog for BEST or WORST blog that was UNdark for at least ONE DAY during 2006 or 2007.
  9. The only way we can halt an election once the nominees have been announced is if we receive 25 (twenty-five) comments from 25 differently named commenters telling us to do so. We’ll take your suggestion as comment number one (1). If we get 24 MORE comments from 24 differently named commenters, we’ll stop the contest and move on to our next contest.
  10. Blogs must receive five (5) new nominations in each round.
  11. There can only be One (1) Classiest Blogger of the Month.
  12. Your Editorial Team decides who gets special recognition awards such as the Classiest Blogger of the Month award.
  13. Even though a blogger uses that blogger’s real name, commenters should refrain from doing so. This is a cyber contest. Let’s not get it confused with the non-cyber world.
  14. We can not reveal an identifying information about who supports or opposes a candidate.
  15. We need four (4) nominations from four (4) different commenters to be eliminated during Round 1, Eliminating Round.
  16. We can add a blog during Round 1, Eliminating Round, but we need three (3) nominations to add from three (3) different commenters to add that blog during Round 1, Eliminating Round.
  17. No impersonating! Pick a few aliases and stay with them. Don’t stealing other peoples aliases. If we find out this is happening of if you suspect it is happening to you or your aliases and you notify us via bestdcblog at yahoo dot com, we will take swift action.
  18. Adding a number or a series of numbers to a commenter’s name does NOT make that commenter a new and fresh commenter. Letters must be changed for the commenter to be new and fresh. Therefore, that commenter’s vote only counts once if the numbers are changed::: For example:::: Rob101, Rob40, and Rob43 only count as ONE commenter.
  19. Once an Eliminating Round has been closed, no eliminations or additions can be made until the next Eliminating Round opens.
  20. This is an adult site for fun and parties and gossip. If you are not mature enough to handle the competition please have your parent’s block the site. We know you have impulse control, but take your meds and be a good little boy.
  21. Your BEST DC Blog Editorial Team has absolutely NOTHING to do with the recent DC Blogosphere Wars. We have no interest in one side of the wars winning versus the other. We DO NOT support or condone blogosphere wars, just as we DO NOT condone or support dihonourable and rude behaviour online. We leave the comments section of our posts open so that people can discuss openly and freely what it is that makes a blog GOOD or BAD. We are here to ascertain what it is about a DC blog that’s so fun, enjoyable, readable, and likable. There is very little research or literature done on these very important subjects, and we are here to facilitate these crucial discussions.

    We support light and honourable gossips about the BEST of the Best and the WORST of the Worst in the DC Blogosphere. By light and honourable gossips, we mean those that are constructive in helping us determine what it is that makes a blog GOOD or BAD. We do not support destructive comments that make someone feel dirty or bad about their blog.

    Our sole purposes here are to facilitate frank and honourable discussions and debates about blogs and to host certified, valid elections that determine who IS the BEST of the Best in the DC Blogosphere. We want nothing to do with DC Blogosphere Wars and know that our sterling reputation and impeccable morals will keep us out of these Blog Wars.

  22. Every week we will feature a BEST DC Blog Post of the Week and a WORST DC Blog Post of the Week. No one gets a banner and there’s no voting. Here’s how it works:::::You, our thousands of fans, will send us a post IN ITS ENTIRETY with a link to the post and a VERY short description of why that post deserves to be the BEST or WORST of the week. We’ll pick the one we like the BEST or the WORST and put it on our very popular website! We won’t even use your name as the person who submitted it unless you tell us to!   23. As with all BEST DC Blogs contest, previous winners can not be nominated until a total of 12 elections and contests have passed since their last win.
  24. Attitude is always a good measuring stick for winning. There are a lot of bloggers in the DC blogosphere who THINK they are GREAT writers, but are they really? It will be fun to see how they stack up against other GREAT writers and see if they are really all that or if they are just a big ego!!!! Let’s find out who is GREAT and who is MISTAKEN.
